Summary
We are seeking an Estate Gardener to work on a prestigious 70-acre private estate in Berkshire. This role offers the chance to work within a team maintaining extensive high-end formal gardens, parkland, waterways, woodlands, and leisure facilities.
Key Responsibilities
As an Estate Gardener, your role will include:
Carrying out all aspects of horticulture, both specialised and general
Lawn care, mowing, feeding, and treatment
Applying pesticides and herbicides (PA1 & PA6 required – training provided where necessary) with accurate record keeping
Pruning, trimming, and shaping shrubs, hedges, and trees
Planting, maintaining, and tending to lawns, beds, and borders
Ground clearance and seasonal horticultural tasks
Sweeping and maintenance of hard surfaces, pathways, and outdoor furniture
Maintenance of waterways, lakes, and streams, including irrigation systems
Care and upkeep of an artificial tennis court (training provided)
Safe use and basic upkeep of horticultural machinery (training provided)
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Recognised horticultural qualification (preferred but not essential)
Strong experience in high-end gardening, ideally within a private estate setting
Practical horticultural knowledge across a wide range of garden styles
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a close-knit team
Strong attention to detail with a proactive, positive approach
High levels of energy, motivation, and reliability
Good time management and ability to work under pressure
Integrity, discretion, and a strong work ethic
Requirements
PA1 & PA6 spraying certificates (or willingness to obtain with training)
Full, clean UK driving licence
Own transport preferred due to estate location (Ascot / Sunninghill area)
What’s On Offer
Salary between £26,000 – £27,000 DOE
Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 16:00
28 days holiday (including bank holidays)
Uniform and PPE provided
Relevant training and ongoing professional development
