We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Findern, Derby (DE65 6BG). The successful candidate will support both the Contract and Site Managers by efficiently organising and managing all contract functions to deliver the highest level of service while maintaining economic viability. Responsibility for building and maintaining strong customer relationships, serving as the primary contact for daily operations, and ensuring professional and effective communication at all times is a key component of this role.

Key tasks:
Operational Control:
• Budgetary responsibility for our customer contract.
• Responsible for overseeing the effective running of the contract to ensure it is managed according to customer and company expectations.
• Ensure that any issues with meeting expectations are communicated both within Yusen Logistics and to customers in a timely manner.
• Continually review measures of productivity and challenge resource plans to optimise productivity and performance.
• Provide accurate routine and ad-hoc reports measuring performance against established KPI’s and other business performance information.
• Ensure internal / external audit processes are completed as required and remedial actions are implemented within the agreed timescales.
Customer Service:
• Establish and maintain good customer relationships, acting as the key customer contact for day-to-day operations.
• Ensure that professional and effective communication is maintained at all times.
• Identify and recommend appropriate resolutions to customer queries.
Continuous Improvement:
• Development of other logistics revenue opportunities with the customer.
• Close analysis, promotion and identification of areas for improvement within Yusen’s quality management system.
• Review the training and development needs of both immediate and associated employees to ensure best practice is understood and shared.
Communication:
• Ensure all company briefings, communications and instructions are cascaded through the operations in a timely manner to provide consistent information share with all employees.
• Ensure all company procedures, including absence, holiday, performance, behaviour etc are managed and adhered to, supporting with investigations and disciplinary hearings as necessary.
• Ensure all team members are aware of key outcomes, business processes, expectations and that all associated employee procedures are adhered to.
Health & Safety:
• Ensure all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to at all times, raising any non-compliances or concerns at the earliest opportunity, and resolving within a timely manner.
To be successful in this role, it is expected that you have:
• Previous supervisory experience in a modern warehouse with WMS / SAP
• Commercial awareness and cost management.
• A proven history of business improvement through analysis.
• Preferably an MHE licence.
• Strong leadership skills with good values and work ethics.
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills.
• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft packages and e-mail.
• Ability to prioritise workload, effectively managing multiple tasks.
