Summary
Learning Mentor needed in Salford via Step Teachers!
Step Teachers are looking for a dedicated SEN Learning Mentor to join an outstanding special needs school in Salford, supporting students aged 9-19 with Autism and Complex Needs. This is a rewarding role where every day brings new challenges and the chance to make a real difference. You'll learn new skills and enhance your CV!
Main Info
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm, starting as soon as possible. The role is long-term with the potential to become permanent. Pay ranges from £90 to £110 per day depending on experience, and we pay through PAYE only - no umbrella companies. From week 13 of your placement, you'll also receive equal pay to permanent staff. Alongside this, you'll benefit from Step Perks, which include 24/7 GP access, retail and gym discounts, free CPD training opportunities, and even a £100 bonus through our Refer-a-Friend scheme. We'll also refund your DBS cost after 20 days of work.
The Role
As a Learning Mentor, you'll work with students on both a one-to-one and small group basis, helping them to access learning and achieve their potential. Many pupils also have social, emotional or behavioural needs, so part of your role will involve offering encouragement, structure and positive reinforcement. You'll work closely with teachers, the SENCO, parents and external professionals, and you'll help create a safe, inclusive and engaging classroom environment. Recording observations, behaviours and safeguarding concerns will also form part of your responsibilities.
The School
You'll be joining a supportive SEN school with small class sizes of no more than ten pupils and 4 staff, so working with your colleagues as a team is essential. The school has a strong ethos of empathy, respect and inclusion, ensuring that every child is valued and supported. Located in Salford, it's easily accessible by train and bus, with free on-site parking available.
To Apply, you'll need:
· An up-to-date CV
· Proof of Right to Work, photo ID and address
· An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
· Professional references covering the past two years.
· A proactive, reliable and empathetic approach is essential.
