Full time 37.5 hours per week. Permanent post.

This is a Band 5 role but we could consider applications from suitably experienced Band 4s and Pre-registration Student Pharmacy Technicians with Hospital Experience qualifying in 2025

If you are appointed at Band 4, your salary will be within the range of £25,147-£27,596 per annum.

If you are appointed at Band 5, your salary will be within the range of £28,407-34,581 per annum.

THE ROLE

As the demand for Pharmacy Services increases we require Registered General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Pharmacy Technicians who are Accredited Technician Checkers.

You will be a key member of staff and actively support and develop Pharmacy Services whilst facilitating prompt discharges.

You will be a positive and well motivated person with a professional attitude.

You will be adaptable, a good communicator and work easily within a team.

You will participate in Medicines Management using EPR . This will include ward visits for medicines reconciliation as recommended by NICE guidelines. You will work in the Dispensary to provide a high quality and timely service.

You will train and support the ward based Technicians SATO’s and pharmacy staff including pre-registered Student Technicians.

A snapshot of the role:
• To support the clinical pharmacists in the provision of complete pharmaceutical care to patients.
• Accuracy checking of medications that have previously been clinically checked by a qualified pharmacist in accordance with department policy.
• To participate in drug history taking by communicating with patients, A&E and ward staff, doctors, GPs, community chemists, other hospitals, nursing homes, community drug teams, patients relatives/carers and pharmacists to find out correct information regarding a patients accurate and correct medication history. A minimum sensible approach is necessary.
• To actively gather medication information from nursing notes and patients medical notes at ward level with regard to building up a comprehensive drug history.
• To support Medicines Management ward services with the ward based dispensers (SATO) taking an appropriate role.
• To accuracy check ‘patients own drugs’ and identify their suitability for reuse at ward level according to the pharmacy procedure by liaising with patients and patient’s relatives/carers .that they are in date and not expired.
