Do you have a head for figures and a heart for making a difference?

We are looking for a skilled Finance Officer to join our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team, helping us to make sure every pound of early years funding delivers the best possible start in life for children across the Isle of Wight.

This role is about more than numbers, it’s about making sure our early years providers have the right financial support to give children the strongest foundations for learning, development, and school readiness.

The post is hybrid with some time at County Hall in Newport.

What will you be doing?

Managing EYFS funding streams, including free early education entitlements and grants.
Monitoring budgets, producing clear financial reports, and supporting forecasting.
Ensuring funding is allocated and reconciled accurately and in line with DfE guidance.
Advising and supporting early years providers with financial processes.
Developing efficient systems to strengthen accountability and value for money.
Working closely with colleagues to ensure resources are used to achieve the best outcomes for children.

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

Experienced in finance, accountancy, or business management.
Qualified to AAT Level 3 (or equivalent), or working towards this.
Confident in managing budgets, preparing reports, and using finance systems.
Highly organised, accurate, and able to meet deadlines.
A clear communicator who can explain finance to non-finance colleagues.
Motivated to support services that give children the best start in life.
You may be required to attend meetings outside of standard office hours.
