Summary
Ready to make a meaningful impact where it matters most? Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated professional to champion the educational journeys of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children—help us turn challenges into opportunities.
About the Team
Due to the unique vulnerabilities and needs of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, we are creating a new role to further enhance support for their educational needs. The postholder will co-ordinate the PEPs and education packages for these young people, while also delivering ESOL tuition to expedite their ability to access a range of education opportunities.
About the Role
The post is offered on a 0.8 FTE basis, with the expectation that two days a week are spent on casework and two on tutoring.
About You
The successful candidate will bring a strong knowledge of the barriers and disadvantage faced by children looked after, and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in particular, and a passion for helping them overcome these. They will have substantial experience of working in a school or p16 educational setting, and understanding of the statutory guidance that informs our work. They will be confident to lead on outcomes for our UASC learners, supporting and challenging other professionals as needed. They will have an ESOL qualification and experience of teaching UASC.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a knowledgeable and supportive team. Please read the role specific criteria and apply if you feel you meet them.
