Summary

English Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you an English Graduate Teaching Assistant prospect looking to build school-based experience before teacher training?

Could you raise attainment by delivering focused support in English across KS3 and KS4?

*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** £82 - £102 per day
*** ‘Good’ secondary school, Ward of Erdington
*** Academic support through English at KS3 and KS4

The Role:
Work with the English department to close gaps and build confidence. Lead short intervention groups, provide 1:1 tutoring, and support reading, writing and analysis. Help with revision resources, reinforce exam skills, and keep brief notes on progress to inform next steps.

The Candidate:
You hold a degree (English or related preferred), communicate clearly, and explain ideas in simple steps. You’re organised, reliable, and motivated to develop towards teacher training.

Requirements
• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
