Summary
We provide acute care for older people on Poole and Bournemouth Hospital sites including our frailty admissions units, SDEC, acute inpatient wards and Hospital at Home services. The department also provides input to patients within the ortho-geriatrics and Perioperative care for Older People's service. Work alongside our existing specialty doctors and trainee Geriatric registrars to provide care to inpatients including new admissions Supervision and support of junior medical colleagues, Physicians Associates and Advanced Nurse Practitioners/Advanced Clinical Practitioners Maintaining continued professional development Attending ward multidisciplinary meetings Attending and contributing to educational sessions and Clinical Governance meetings Partaking in departmental Quality Improvement work Teaching Medical and Physicians Associates students Participating in the hospital appraisal process as part of on-going professional development Potential weekend working within the ortho-geriatric service ESSENTIAL Requirements necessary for safe and effective performance in the job DESIRABLE Where available, elements that contribute to improved/ immediate performance in the job Assessed Attribute Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. Ability to prioritise workload & use initiative Ability to know own limitations and when to seek help Meet the requirements of the GMCs Good Medical Practice. Full registration with GMC Computer/IT Research skills Experience Can evidence successful completion of foundation competencies Completed training to IMT2 level Evidence of experience of working in Older Peoples Medicine Interpersonal Skills Approachable manner Flexible attitude Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary team Able to work positively and engage with all staff groups Excellent communication skills Evidence of team leadership Qualifications and Training Eligibility or valid/relevant GMC Registration Basic Medical Qualification Completion of foundation training Completion to IMT2 level and evidence of MRCP part 1 Passed MRCP part 1 and 2. Compliant with mandatory Training Other Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice ALS Able to speak English as necessary for the role Computer literate
