Functional Skills Tutor English & Maths

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Tutor to join our educational team. We are a Training Provider with over 26 years’ experience of working with young people aged 16-19 in South London and Surrey supporting them to find their chosen path in education and preparing them for the world of work and adulthood. We place high importance on the relationship all our staff build with our students. This bond enables us to improve each student’s personal and social skills in a nurturing and protected environment. We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of all the young people and staff we work with.

English and maths are the bedrock to their success in life and work and we require a tutor who can deliver City & Guilds Functional Skills.

The diverse cohort is of mixed ability levels, being Neurotypical and Neurodiverse some also have Educational Health & Care plans (EHCPs). The class is supported with Learning Support Assistants who support students with their vocational qualification, personal development, and wellbeing.

JOB TITLE English & Maths Tutor – Carshalton Centre

JOB PURPOSE To deliver City & Guilds English & Maths from entry level 1 to Level 2

RESPONSIBLE TO Centre Manger

The candidate will:

1. Hold a relevant teaching qualifications or be prepared to work towards one

2. Understand Education Health Care Plans & SEND needs

3. Have a good understanding of Safeguarding and Prevent

4. Have experience in delivery of functional skills

5. Have good verbal and written communication skills

6. Have proficient IT skills

7. Have good time management and organisational skills

8. Be willing to undertake additional training. (Assessor awards/AET)

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Delivery of English and maths qualifications

2. Be able to direct Learning Support Assistants

3. Complete progress tracking and contribute to student reviews

4. Create and follow Schemes of Work & Lesson plans

5. Complete daily administrative tasks, as required

6. Complete Continual Professional Development.
