Summary
HIU / Gas Engineer
Location: Essex, Stowmarket & London (Van Mobile Role)
Salary: £55,000 + Overtime & On-Call Allowances
Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

The Role
We are seeking an experienced HIU / Gas Engineer to join a well-established M&E Contractor within their maintenance division. This is a mobile role covering Essex, Stowmarket and London, working across a mix of residential and commercial properties.
The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of tasks including HIU maintenance, domestic gas boiler servicing/repairs, and general plumbing works.

Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintenance, and repair of HIUs (Heat Interface Units) – approx. 30% of workload.
- Service and repair of domestic gas boilers – approx. 30% of workload.
- General plumbing works including pipework, sanitaryware, and associated systems – approx. 30% of workload.
- Diagnose faults, carry out remedial works, and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
- Provide a high level of customer care and service delivery to clients.
- Participate in the on-call rota (1 in 6 weeks) with additional payments.
- Complete required documentation, reports, and certification to industry standards.

Requirements
- Proven experience as a HIU Engineer / Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
- Competent in HIU systems, gas boilers, and plumbing works.
- Valid Gas Safe qualifications (CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1 as a minimum).
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating (desirable).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.

- 40-hour working week (Mon–Fri)

- On-call rota (1 in 6 weeks):
- Standby: £168 per week
- Call-out: £120 for first 3 hours, door-to-door pay thereafter
- Engineers given ½ hour each way in travel time
- Ongoing training and development opportunities
