Full time hours on a permanent basis
We are seeking a knowledgeable Highways Development Officer to provide expert advice on transport and highways matters in relation to planning applications and development proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in pre-application discussions with developers, consultants, and planning officers.
- Assess Transport Assessments, Statements, and Travel Plans.
- Provide timely recommendations on highways and transport issues, including mitigation and developer contributions.
- Represent the Highways Authority at planning committees, stakeholder meetings, and site visits.
- Instruct legal teams to prepare agreements with developers.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, developers, and elected members.
- Prepare reports, briefing papers, and responses to planning queries.
- Conduct site inspections and surveys to validate transport appraisals.
- Prepare and present evidence for appeals and public inquiries.
- Support the Highways Legal Agreements team when required.
- Ensure compliance with policies on customer care, data protection, and health & safety.
