This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Street Naming and Numbering and GIS Officer to join our IT Services team.


The Role:


This role is to lead, manage and have principal responsibility for carrying out Street Naming and Numbering (SNN) duties in accordance with policies and best practices. This role will also be responsible for the maintenance of the corporate Geographical Information System (GIS), including data digitisation and validation, assisting in corporate GIS projects, maintaining existing GIS systems and web maps and offering specialised advice in responding to GIS and geospatial enquiries.



This multifaceted role supports critical council operations by managing and maintaining accurate geospatial data. The role encompasses the management of Street Naming and Numbering processes. This involves overseeing the assignment of unique and consistent street names and numbers, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices. This role additionally contributes to the maintenance of the Council's Geographic Information System (GIS), which includes data collection, analysis, and dissemination, as well as providing expert GIS support and guidance to various departments within the Council.


This role will report to the Corporate Applications Team Leader.


Your role will involve:
• Responsible for carrying out the day-to-day administration of SNN processes / applications in accordance with all statutory requirements, there may be some collection of information on-site and consultation with statutory bodies and other interested parties (Royal Mail, developers etc.)
• Lead on supporting and promoting use of the Unique Property Reference Numbers (UPRN) across the Council.
• Responsible for the digital map production of spatial data to support Council projects and services in providing location-based intelligence.
• Responsible for creating and maintaining GIS training videos and supporting documentation


What we are looking for:
• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems
• Knowledge of database management systems and data migration
• Good time management and prioritisation skills and ability to work under own initiative to achieve results, as well as a good work life balance.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work unsupervised and liaise with other members of staff and to work as part of a team
