The School of Design is seeking a highly organised and proactive Administrator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of world-class postgraduate education and play a vital role in supporting our staff, students, and programmes.
About the role
You will provide comprehensive administrative support for the School of Design’s postgraduate programmes, in particular the MRes in Healthcare & Design and our Postgraduate Research (PgR) Programme. Working closely with the School General Manager and academic staff, you will ensure the smooth running of all aspects of the student lifecycle—from planning and admissions to assessment, feedback, and examinations—while helping us deliver an unrivalled student experience.
The post also offers scope to be involved in wider School activities, including external relations, knowledge exchange, research support, curriculum coordination, and high-profile events such as Open Days and the Final Year Show.
Key responsibilities include:
Administering and supporting the School’s postgraduate programmes and Grand Challenge Unit.
Acting as a first point of contact for students, staff, and external partners, managing queries via email and in person.
Supporting School-wide events such as Open Evenings, recruitment fairs, student forums, and the Final Year Show.
Coordinating meetings, committees, timetabling, and room/AV set-up.
Handling financial administration, including purchase orders, expenses, and payments (via Agresso).
Supporting academic projects, research bids, executive education, and industry collaborations.
Maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with data protection and information security standards.
Providing clerking and minute-taking for School-level meetings.
Updating and maintaining website and intranet content.
About you
You will be an adaptable and resourceful administrator with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. Comfortable managing a busy workload, you will thrive in a collaborative environment and bring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to everything you do.
Essential criteria:
Degree level (or equivalent experience).
Proven administrative experience in a busy, customer-focused environment.
Excellent digital literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (or Google Workspace).
Experience with databases and financial management systems (Agresso or similar).
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to prioritise tasks, problem-solve, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable criteria:
Experience in higher education administration.
Minute-taking and diary management skills.
Familiarity with specialist systems such as iTrent, Agresso, Raiser’s Edge, or student databases.
An enthusiasm for art, design, and culture.
