My Life is looking for a caring and reliable Support Worker / Personal Assistant to join a dedicated team supporting a young man who is neurodiverse and benefits from structured, person-centred support to live an independent and fulfilling life. He experiences anxiety and needs people around him who can achieve his trust and in whom he can feel confident.
He is presently living in a parental home, but in due course it is planned that he will move into a home of his own, intended to be within West Lancashire.
About this young man
He is a friendly, intelligent and engaging individual who enjoys a variety of activities including volunteering at, and visiting steam railways, spending time with animals (especially dogs), going to the cinema, walking in the countryside, and preparing food. He’s looking for someone who will support him to enjoy these activities while building his confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
· Daily Living Support: Support with daily activities, outings, and planning meals and preparing food.
· Community Activities: Accompany him on outings – especially volunteering at and visiting steam railways, cinema trips and walks. Ideally you will be an active participant in his volunteering activity.
· Skill Building & Independence: Work alongside this young man to develop life skills that boost his confidence and self-sufficiency.
· Be a Friendly Confidant: Build a genuine connection, providing companionship, encouragement, and a positivity every day.
· Health & Well-being Monitoring: Look out for his safety, well-being, and overall happiness, always keeping communication open with his family and care team.
About You:
• Resilient and non judgemental: although you will be someone with strong values related to care of and respect for others you will need to be able to deal effectively with moments of stress and anxiety experienced by this young man, demonstrating confidence, patience and resourcefulness and without being judgemental.
• Kind and Patient: You are able to provide calm support.
• Mature in your outlook and conduct.
• Comfortable Outdoors: You’re physically fit and happy to join him on walks and community activities.
• Great Communication Skills: You connect well with him, his family, and the wider team, making sure everyone’s aligned.
• Experienced and keen to learn: You have experience supporting people with Autism,, and/or mental health needs, and you are eager to further develop your skills.
• Driver’s License is Required: He has a mobility car to facilitate outings and helping him stay engaged in the community.
