Summary
Who are we?
We are part of a well-established PLC supplying fresh produce to major UK supermarkets. The group has grown steadily to become a leading supplier within our chosen sector and now comprises over 100 acres of high specification growing, packing and grading facilities.
Our Essex site is the largest and leads on producing tomatoes that are picked and sent to the St. Albans site for packing and transporting to the supermarkets. The site [Essex] also grow aubergines for our clients. Two Supervisors are required to play a pivotal role within a knowledgeable & committed team at the Essex Site.
The Role
You'll have overview of the growing operation across approx. 20ha glasshouses. There is a mix of permanent and seasonal workers on site that need managing via the Supervisors.
You'll see yourself working collaboratively with other sites, as well as working with the owners to implement best practices and continuous improvement.
What do I need
Required:
• PA1 and PA6 qualifications
• Registered to the Nroso (National Register of Sprayer Operators) scheme
• Delivered against commercial objectives set by the company Directors previously
• Knowledge of growing produce to a high, supermarket-grade standard
• Proof of experience managing forecasts for production/hitting targets required
• Some management experience and knowledge dealing with a variety of stakeholders/owners
Advantageous:
• BASIS Scheme qualification
• Previous experience supplying UK supermarkets
• PRIVA environmental system knowledge
• Forklift licence
• Be able to identify opportunities to develop the business
• Health & Safety/First Aid knowledge
• Deliver against commercial objectives set by the company Directors
• Knowledge of growing produce to a high standard
The Person / The Role
• Someone who takes a solution-led approach to their work and can work on their own
• You are an excellent relationship builder
• You know how to use Microsoft’s basic software [outlook email/excel spreadsheets]
• Knowledge of the wider agricultural industry
• Works well under pressure
• Management of growing crop to harvest to meet customer specification
