Summary
Female Applicants Preferred
We’re seeking a kind, patient, and dependable female personal assistant to support a 15-month-old baby girl with Edwards Syndrome, and her mum, in their family home in Kirkcaldy.
This little one is beating the odds every day. Although her condition means she’s developing more like a 3-month-old, she’s alert, responsive, and happiest when she’s cuddled, sung to, or gently played with. Every smile, every coo, every small milestone is a celebration, and you can be part of that journey.
You’ll be supporting both baby and mum in a mix of hands-on care, interactive play, and light practical help around the house.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Gentle personal care — including nappy changes and supporting daily routines
• Feeding support and administering oral medication (full training provided)
• Play and development time — including singing, cuddles, baby massage, and light physio-based activities (you’ll be guided by mum’s approach using directed play)
• Using baby’s wheelchair for short walks or outings
• Supporting mum with light housework, errands, and possibly accompanying her and baby on appointments or outings
This role is suited to someone who’s calm, thoughtful, and we are looking for someone who is:
• Genuinely caring and patient, with a positive, gentle approach.
• Reliable — your consistency matters to this family.
• Open to learning, especially about rare conditions and mum’s specific way of working with her daughter.
• Comfortable with personal care and engaging with a baby who may not respond like others her age, but who still thrives on love and interaction.
• Happy to follow direction from mum and work collaboratively.
• Flexible and able to adapt as the baby’s needs change over time.
• A driver is preferred, but not essential.
• Experience in care is helpful but not essential, the right personality and attitude are more important.
