Learning Support Worker - Skills Trainer

ROLE DESCRIPTION

As Learning Support Worker (Skills Trainer) you will play a key role in supporting the Supported Internship programme in collaboration with Cumberland Council.

Carlisle College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Learning Support Worker (Skills Trainer) to be part of our Supported Internship Team.

The successful candidate will work in coordination with the Job Coach in providing training and support for our supported interns and host business mentors. They will facilitate the training and integration of the interns in a worksite internship and/or competitive work environment.

The role also includes programme administrative responsibilities to ensure effective course management. A key focus will be supporting learners in developing employability skills relevant to the industry, promoting independence, and preparing them for progression into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment.

In addition to supporting in sessions, you will track and monitor students' progress, providing constructive feedback and adjusting teaching strategies to help them improve. Motivating students and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment will be key to building their confidence and keeping them engaged. Collaboration with parents, guardians, and educational staff will be essential to ensure student success, with regular communication and recommendations for improvement.
