Are you passionate about community engagement and making a difference in local neighbourhoods? We’re looking for a proactive and organised Community Clubroom Assistant to help manage and promote our community clubrooms across Wandsworth.

Community clubrooms are purpose-built spaces located within housing estates, designed to serve residents. They offer affordable venues for a wide range of social, educational, and health-related activities. Wandsworth Council manages an extensive portfolio of these clubrooms across the borough, supporting vibrant community engagement.

You will play a key role in supporting clubroom operations, facilitating cultural programmes, and working with diverse community groups to enhance cohesion and wellbeing. About the role

Reporting to the Community Clubroom Manager, you will champion clubroom activities across Wandsworth’s diverse communities - boosting usage, unlocking new revenue streams, and supporting both unstaffed clubrooms and volunteer-managed clubrooms. You will be supporting the delivery of the cultural programme at Focus Hall, Roehampton, as part of the London Borough of Culture year, and help implement policy and regulatory updates.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Support the day-to-day management of community clubrooms
  • Promote clubroom usage and generate income through effective marketing and booking systems
  • Provide excellent customer service to users and volunteers
  • Coordinate cleaning, repairs, inspections, and occasional refurbishments
  • Assist with volunteer training and support
  • Build strong relationships with local stakeholders and community groups
  • Facilitate events and outreach activities to promote health, wellbeing, and diversity
  • Deputise for the Clubroom Manager when required

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Experience in venue/facility hire management
  • Demonstrable record in organising community events
  • Strong IT and numeracy skills
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work independently
  • Willingness to travel locally and work flexible hours
  • Understanding of community development and outreach
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding
