Summary

Legal Services is recruiting Lawyers for its Community Team. This Team takes instructions from service areas across the Council and some external clients, and carries out a wide range of civil and criminal litigation as well as providing advice to Council committees, including Planning and Licensing. Major areas of practice include social and private housing, anti-social behaviour and community safety, adult social care, planning, licensing, employment, health and safety, public protection and environmental regulation.
The successful candidate will have significant professional legal experience in some of the areas of the work undertaken by the Team. Additionally, a demonstrable understanding of the role of Legal Services within local government and the Council would be an advantage. Lawyers are expected to be proactive, confident, organised and able to work on their own initiative. The ability to manage a busy workload to tight deadlines is therefore essential.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Paul Thompson on 01482 613128.
Please ensure that your application demonstrates how you meet the essential criteria against the person specification as listed in the job description.
