Summary
The Institute of Education in Healthcare and Medical Sciences, located within the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition, University of Aberdeen, is one of the UK’s leading centres for medical, medical sciences and dental education. The Institute launched the Centre of Healthcare Education Research and Innovation (CHERI) in May 2017. Led by Dr Anita Laidlaw, CHERI’s vision is to achieve a global reputation for academic excellence in healthcare education research, by supporting high-quality, important research focusing on relevant issues, and developing tomorrow’s researchers.
CHERI is seeking to appoint a Research Administrator. The position (7.3 hours per week which can be either one full day or two half days) will involve delivering administrative support to the research team involved in an NIHR funded research project that aims to generate a comprehensive understanding of career progression and related experiences of doctors with disabilities working within the UK NHS to enhance retention via equity of training and career progression opportunities. The successful candidate will have experience of administration in a Higher Education setting and will have knowledge about the key administrative processes involved in such support. The position is funding-limited until 30 September 2028 and is dependent on external funding.
This post will support this collaborative NIHR funded research project involving researchers at the Universities of Aberdeen, Edinburgh Napier, Queens Belfast and St Andrews, along with colleagues from the NHS. This project contains three workstreams. Two complimentary approaches (workstreams 1 and 2) will generate a significant evidence base on the career progression and experiences of doctors with disabilities in the UK, whilst a third approach (workstream 3) will engage with stakeholders and develop useful and impactful outputs and outcomes from that evidence base.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 4 scale, 20% of £26,942 - £29,179 per annum, pro rata, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
Informal enquiries should be made to Dr Anita Laidlaw, Director of CHERI (anita.laidlaw@abdn.ac.uk).
In accordance with the UKVI immigration rules, it is with regret that this role DOES NOT MEET THE SALARY REQUIREMENTS for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. For this role, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment and obtain the right to work in the UK. Information on other visa options is available at https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa.
