The purpose of the Culture and Capability Division is to enable the DfT to equip our people with the skills and positive working environment needed for everyone to thrive and achieve their best. The division brings together a number of different teams all working towards making DfT an inclusive and high performing organisation. Within the division we have teams focusing on:
- Capability, Skills and Inclusion projects to define how we attract and develop the skills and diverse talent we need for now and into the future.
- Design of Culture and Leadership development initiatives aimed at creating the optimum environment for high performance. Alongside performance evaluation and insights to inform the design of future culture and capability building work and ensure the effective running of existing services.
- Delivery of learning, talent, apprenticeship, inclusion, wellbeing and engagement services.
While we have a rich tapestry of expertise and specialist knowledge across the team, there is also the expectation that all team members work flexibly across the division and the HR Function. This offers a range of opportunity for involvement in a range of work, and all team members are supported in personal development to ensure that we are the best that we can be and can be proud of the service we provide for DfT. The division sits within the Organisational Development and Change directorate as part of the wider Department for Transport HR function.
You will work across the Culture and Capability Division and will be responsible for supporting on a range of activities across the division based on the current work programme of the team.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Develop strong and coherent plans for Culture and Capability programme delivery, working closely with the rest of the team to prioritise work and manage resources to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
- Budget management - monitoring contract spend and highlighting risks, and forecasting. Ensuring we are receiving value for money from our providers.
- Proactively managing contentious or complex issues as required.
- Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to improve service and maximise impact of activities.
- Develop and own the Communications and Engagement OASIS plan for the whole of the HR function using data to inform comms and marketing approaches. Providing a central point to join up comms initiatives to help the organisation digest the HR offer in its entirety.
- Work closely with and be a single interface into the Internal Comms team.
- Work closely with the Transformation Directorate to ensure people based change initiatives are effectively embedded successfully with employees.
- Support the delivery of key change initiatives including key programmes of work on leadership and line management.
