About Our Client
Our client's High School is an 11-18 academy, with a newly evolving sixth form which sits as part of collaboration with their two other Education schools in the town. The school's students are drawn not only from Darwen, but also from neighbouring Blackburn, and around 30% of students qualify for free school meals.
The High School opened in redesigned and refurbished buildings in September 2012 and has grown from year groups of 150 to 240. It is widely recognised as a school which has seen rapid improvements in recent years. Student achievement has improved significantly and as a result, the school has been oversubscribed for the past several years.
In addition, following a recent Ofsted inspection, the High School has been given a 'Good' rating in all areas; a great achievement, and one which our client and the whole High School team are very proud of. About the Role
They are seeking an ambitious and dynamic Lead Practitioner of Geography to join their forward-thinking school. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding classroom practitioner to play a key role in driving standards, raising attainment, and supporting the continued growth of their Geography provision across Key Stage 3 and 4.
As Lead Practitioner, you will:
- Support and collaborate with the Head of Geography to deliver outstanding outcomes for all learners.
- Shape and implement a high-quality, engaging curriculum that inspires curiosity and progress.
- Lead on assessment strategies and ensure data is used effectively to drive improvement.
- Monitor and analyse performance patterns, implementing responsive interventions where needed.
- Be a role model of excellent teaching and learning, supporting colleagues to develop best practice.
- Contribute to the strategic leadership of the department to narrow achievement gaps for all learners.
