A proudly independent veterinary practice is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join their team in a flexible role spanning five branches and their state-of-the-art hospital. This unique opportunity offers a varied caseload, professional growth, and the chance to work in a supportive, collaborative environment.
The practice is led by owners who are deeply committed to their colleagues, offering flexible working patterns, structured career development, and a genuine focus on wellbeing. Their dedication has been recognised with both a SPVS Wellbeing Award and Silver BVA Good Workplace status.
Colleagues thrive here through established mentoring frameworks and clear progression pathways, ensuring every team member feels valued, supported, and empowered to advance their career. The culture combines the benefits of being “big enough to handle anything unexpected” with the warmth of “small enough to know every client and their pet by name.”
The role offers variety: some branches involve managing your own medical and surgical caseload, while larger teams collaborate closely with the hospital in Swindon. The hospital is home to certificate holders in medicine, ophthalmology, surgery, and imaging, with access to excellent facilities, including CT.
From October, the practice will launch its own in-house OOH team, allowing for exceptional standards of care around the clock—without requiring OOH commitments from you.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a commitment to client care, and a shared passion for maintaining the highest clinical standards. The team is friendly, sociable, forward-thinking, and actively involved in steering groups covering sustainability, clinical standards, wellbeing, and social activities. The practice also has a staff recognition scheme to celebrate contributions, along with a strong emphasis on humour, enjoyment, and community in the workplace.
The package includes:
• Competitive salary: £45,000 - £70,000 (dependent on experience)
• Five weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays
• Unlimited CPD where there is a relevant business need
• RCVS and VDS memberships paid
• Private healthcare
• Workplace pension
• Staff discounts
• Employee Assistance Programme
• 100% attendance bonus
• Enhanced maternity pay
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated veterinary surgeon to grow professionally while enjoying the support and camaraderie of a truly exceptional team.
