Summary

Class 1 Driver - Wagon and Drag
Location: Leeds, LS9 0AN
Shifts: Sunday to Thursday, start times between 1:00 PM and 8:00 PM
Shift Length: Average 8 to 10 hours per shift
Pay Rate: £17.34 per hour
Type: Temp to Perm
Annual Salary Equivalent: Approx. £40,600

We're looking for a reliable, experienced Class 1 Driver to join our client's team on a temp-to-perm basis! If you're driven, detail-oriented, and ready for a new challenge, this could be the ideal role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate commercial vehicles (up to 44 tonnes), including rigid trucks, articulated lorries, and trailer wagons

  • Drive both long and short distances across the UK doing Wagon and Drag work

  • Provide excellent customer service and represent the company professionally

  • Supervise and assist with the unloading of goods

  • Safely lift and carry goods, ensuring all loads are secure

  • Adapt routes based on traffic or weather conditions when necessary

  • Accurately complete all required delivery paperwork or use digital systems

  • Comply with Driver Hours, Tacho, and all road safety regulations

  • Drive efficiently to save fuel and reduce vehicle wear

  • Conduct daily vehicle checks at the start and end of shifts

  • Report any incidents or issues in line with company procedures

  • Complete required FORS eLearning and maintain up-to-date certifications

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 1 (C+E) Licence, Driver CPC card, and digital tachograph card

  • Must be comfortable working with Wagon and Drag

  • Physically fit and mentally alert for the demands of driving

  • Previous experience in transport or warehouse/distribution environments

  • Knowledge of distribution operations, driver hour regulations, and tachograph usage

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety

  • A professional, motivated, and reliable attitude
