Summary

About the RoleOur client is seeking to hire a proactive and detail-driven Junior Accountant to support their senior leadership team in maintaining robust financial systems and controls. This role is key to ensuring accurate financial reporting, safeguarding company assets, and driving continuous improvement across core finance functions. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Receivable

  • Manage new customer applications, credit checks, and credit limit approvals
  • Oversee daily sales invoice generation
  • Monitor collections and resolve customer queries promptly
  • Review aged customer balances biweekly
  • Approve customer reimbursements and miscellaneous invoices
  • Liaise with commercial teams for issue resolution

Accounts Payable

  • Validate new supplier applications and bank details
  • Resolve supplier invoice and PO queries
  • Review aged supplier balances and invoice queries weekly
  • Present weekly payment proposals to senior finance leadership

Banking

  • Upload weekly and urgent payment runs to the bank
  • Perform weekly/monthly bank reconciliations
  • Support bank account monitoring and reporting

Accounting & Compliance

  • Act as audit liaison to ensure timely and clean audit completion
  • Support month-end close activities
  • Prepare VAT returns and ONS surveys
  • Continuously review and improve financial processes


Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in financial control
  • Degree educated
  • AAT qualified or ACCA/CIMA part-qualified
  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU VAT

Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, Pivot Tables)
  • Experience with SAP4/HANA or Microsoft D365
  • Positive, can-do attitude
