Summary

A Vacancy at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.


This is a training role within theeating disorder service. This role is a 22-month fixed term appointment leading to a permanent Psychological Therapist post atthe end of this period if the postgraduate diploma programme is completed successfully. Thepost-holder will work within the service providing formal psychological interventions whilstundertaking a programme of training for this role. This intensive training post will equip thepost–holder to provide a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range ofcomplex problems for which CBT isdemonstratedto be clinically effective. The post- holderwill work in the service for -4 days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attendingthe training programme for the other day.


The post holder will work with people withdifferent culturalbackgrounds and ages, usinginterpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities








1. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service

1. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals

1. Assess clients for suitability for CBT.

1. Formulate,implementand evaluate therapy programmes for clients.

1. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.

1. Tobe responsible forimplementing interventions for individuals, carers,familiesand groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis.

1. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options,taking into accountboth theoretical and therapeutic models andhighly complexfactors.


1. Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per weekin order tominimise waiting times.

1. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, whereappropriate.

1. To liaise with other clinicians involved in the patient’s care.

1. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols

1. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients.

1. To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment,formulationand treatment plans of clients under their care and tomonitorprogressduring the course ofbothuni- and multi-disciplinary care.






Teaching, training and supervision
1. To receive regular clinical professional supervision from senior clinician.
2. Receive supervision from educational providers in relation to course work to meet the required standards for accreditation.

1. Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post


1. Apply learning from the training programme in practice

1. To attend Staff Group with other colleagues in the servicewhenpossible.

1. To undertake all mandatory training that is relevant to the post, including updates.


Management, recruitment,policyand service development:

1. To advise both service and professional management on those aspects of the service where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.


Research and service evaluation

1. To utilise theory, evidence-basedliteratureand research to supportevidence basedpractice in work

1. To undertakeappropriate research/auditandprovideresearch.

1. To undertake project management, including complex audit and service evaluation.


1. To familiarise themselves with, and tocomply with, the Trust’s requirements on research governance.










The post will be within theSupport to Recovery in Disordered Eating Service (STRIDES)which works with adults aged 16-35with mild to moderate eating difficulties,acrossthe boroughs ofWestminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Brent,Harrowand Hillingdon. Travel to a range of different working sites isrequired.
