We are looking for a caring and trustworthy female PA to support a friendly and thoughtful woman who lives with a mild learning disability and experiences anxiety. She enjoys her independence but can find it difficult to form relationships and often spends a lot of time on her own. When feeling anxious, she tends to withdraw, so having someone consistent, calm, and encouraging around her can make a real difference in helping her feel more connected and motivated.
She has a supportive relationship with her dad, who lives locally and helps when he can, but she would really benefit from regular, structured support to engage more with her community and take part in everyday life with confidence.
This role involves providing 10 hours of support per week, ideally spread across Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends. The exact times and days can be discussed and agreed with her and her Community Support Service (CSS), as a predictable routine is very important for her wellbeing. Changes to plans or support can lead to increased anxiety, so reliability and good communication are key.
The PA will support her in a number of ways. This includes taking her out and about in the PA’s car for shopping, appointments, and community activities such as swimming, cycling with Wheels for All, visiting cafés, going to the gym, walking, bowling, and looking into new opportunities she might enjoy. Encouraging her to build confidence around others and helping her engage with people in public settings is also an important part of the role.
In addition to getting out into the community, the PA may be needed to provide some light support at home. This could include preparing simple meals, encouraging healthy routines, and occasionally helping her get ready for the day.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, kind, and committed to providing person-centred support.
A full driving licence and access to a car is essential for this role, as transport plays a key part in daily activities.
