Summary


As a Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (PIMH) Practitioner, you’ll play a vital role in the Perinatal and Infant Mental Health team within East Sussex’s integrated Early Help 0–19 service. You’ll deliver compassionate, culturally sensitive support to families from pregnancy through the first two years of life, helping to build strong, nurturing relationships that support lifelong wellbeing.

You’ll work closely with Health Visiting teams, Family Hubs, and a wide range of professionals. Your work will include facilitating therapeutic groups, delivering 1:1 interventions, supporting triage and referrals, and contributing to training and service development.
What We’re Looking For
• A qualified NMC Nurse or Midwife
• Experience working with children and families, ideally in a mental health or perinatal setting.
• Strong communication and group facilitation skills.
• A compassionate, trauma-informed approach to care.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Delivering evidence-based interventions using models such as Transactional Analysis, Emotional Wellbeing Visits, and the Compassionate Mind Approach.
• Supporting families through the transition to parenthood, promoting sensitive caregiving and positive early relationships.
• Provide support to professionals helping to identify appropriate services for families.
• Building strong partnerships with internal and external agencies to ensure seamless support.
• Participating in supervision, audits, and training to continuously improve service quality.
