Summary
The role provides leadership of the Academic Support team including the Academic Support Librarians, Academic Skills Tutors and Academic Support Assistants. The role will be actively involved in the delivery of engaging academic and information literacy support in one-to-one, group and classroom settings. These sessions may be face to face, or online and will encompass a diverse range of students from across the University. The post holder will liaise with academic departments, professional services, and the Student Union to promote, monitor and develop academic skills and learning resources services effectively. This will include attending programme or school meetings, student voice meetings and other relevant fora.
The post holder will have responsibility for the development and acquisition of resources to support students' teaching and learning experience, collaborating with academic colleagues to ensure the relevance of online and physical resources, including the development of library collections across all sites. You will have knowledge of learning development and methods of improving academic and information literacy in higher education.
You are expected to have a high standard of writing with the ability to produce a high standard of written reports and other materials. You will have excellent communication skills, including the ability to develop positive working relations with students and colleagues across the University. The post holder will be a good team-player with well-developed interpersonal skills. You will possess good IT skills with a good working knowledge of MS Office, including Teams. Knowledge, understanding and experience of the library and information/academic literacy context in the post 16 learning environment is required. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable.
