Summary

Job title: Personal assistant
Location: Aberystwyth
Hours of work: 24 hours per month to be worked flexibly in line with the needs of the employer.
Rate of pay £15 per hour
Introduction:
A committed, caring, and flexible Personal Assistant is required to provide support at a highly professional level to a young man with learning disabilities.
As his PA you must be able to follow his care and support plan, support his social and emotional needs, help improve his communication and language skills, and help him develop some interests independent of his family that provide practical and future life skills such as accompanied bus travel ,or accessing services as well as having some fun along the way.
he is a happy and endearing young man who is keen to try new activities swimming, cooking, and progressing his own patch on the family allotment to grow his own vegetables are just some of his ideas, he is happy outdoors and enjoys nature.
The hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance, but it is expected that most of the support will be provided on a Saturday and sometimes evenings after school.
This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme. The PA must have own transport and a full, clean driving licence.
Main Duties:
• Communicate fully with his parents so there is a uniformed ap-proach to his support.
• Ensure service user is safe in his environment.
• Encourage healthy eating.
• Never leave him unattended.
• Support with meals and drinks on duty (supplied by family)
• Encourage and take part in activities.
• Provide support and guidance to develop independence skills.
• Assist him to attend social activities.
• Keep his family updated on activities or concerns
• To carry out any other reasonable requests that the employer may make from time to time.

Active and energetic,
A good sense of humour
Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job.
Caring, honest, responsible and patient.
Reliable with good time keeping.
Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy
An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
Good communication and inter-personal skills.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
