Summary
All roles and responsibilities as outlined in Security Officer (Band 3) job description. To act as the line manager to the Security team. To take the lead in all incident management scenarios and escalate when appropriate. To lead, supervise and train Security Officers. To ensure that all appropriate training is completed. To ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely fashion and the level of expected service is maintained. To receive information from a variety of sources and to disseminate as appropriate. To escalate and feedback to the Security Management team as appropriate any issues that may affect service provision. Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Security Team. To manage your own working time and duties with full autonomy. Scheduling, chairing meetings with follow up meetings as appropriate and referring to the Security Management team when necessary. To organise, create and adjust rotas, ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained 24 hours per day, 365 days a year, including arranging extra duties and cover as and when required. Reacting to daily changes and requirements. To co-ordinate the deployment of staff to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner and all service levels are maintained. To ensure that appropriate reporting is completed by the Security Officers and to be able to offer advice and guidance on this as required. Supervise the Security Officers to ensure they are acting safely and legally and that all actions taken are done so in line with national standards such as those set by NICE, the CQC and the Restraint Reduction Network. To provide training, guidance, direction, and leadership to Security Officers regarding their duties and responsibilities. To ensure that all Security Officers are trained and competent to carry out all tasks and to follow local SOPs. To act as a local expert on all Security Officer tasks in order to act as an exemplar. Notably in the fields of de-escalation, conflict management and restraint. To produce and maintain SOPs, risk assessments and appropriate auditing procedures as required. To identify hazards and equipment faults and to ensure that they are reported and rectified appropriately. To undertake staff appraisals and personal development plans in line with Trust policy. To ensure that all appraisal data is kept up to date. To plan, organise and undertake staff reviews during their probationary period in line with Trust policy. To engage with the recruitment policy. This may include shortlisting of applications, assisting in interviews, and the recruitment and induction of new staff in line with Trust procedures. Undertake return to work interviews following periods of absence, referring staff to senior management if and when individual staff members exceed absence thresholds as outlined in Trust policy. Monitor and complete attendance records on the payroll system, timekeeping and performance, ensuring that conduct that is outside of acceptable standards is brought to the attention of the individuals concerned and senior management, following the appropriate Trust policies and procedures. Be the first line in dealing with disciplinary matters, ensuring that serious or persistent issues are reported to senior management in a timely fashion. To support the line manager with any investigations of a disciplinary / performance nature regarding staff. Organise annual leave applications, ensuring the needs of the service are maintained. To act as the first line for the Security teams health and wellbeing concerns. Highlighting issues to the Management Team where appropriate and signposting staff to the available wellbeing services. Investigate problems / issues and provide solutions with operational decisions and appropriate delegation of staff and duties. To conduct initial investigations in relation to incidents and crimes on site. To gather evidence and statements where appropriate to support any further investigation or prosecution ensuring the appropriate evidence chains are maintained. Maintain strong communications with wards and departments to offer support and resolve issues as they arise. To identify issues with specific patients and visitors and escalate as appropriate to the Security Management team and via the daily bed meetings to senior Nursing staff. Escalate any and all issues that may impact the smooth running of the Trust. Assist wards and departments with their annual Environmental Security Risk Assessments. To ensure that cash movements across site happen in a timely manner and safely in line with standing financial instructions. To analyse and extract information from Security logs. To feed this into spreadsheets in order to assist with the provision of accurate and timely reporting. To manage consumable levels to ensure availability and economic usage, reduce wastage and ensure budgetary targets are not exceeded. To ensure that all Security staff have appropriate uniform and PPE and stock levels are kept to ensure appropriate availability. To directly manage Security key controls to maintain availability and Security. To be the primary point of contact in the department for the numerous computerised systems utilised. To be the primary training point for Security staff and the subject expert in their use. This includes but is not limited to iVMS, DEMS, ExGarde, and Fusion. To take a central role in the upkeep and management of the Trusts access control systems. The daily usage and implementation alongside backend management and installation. To be the primary contact for all requests relating to surveillance (CCTV, BWV). To ensure that requests are processed in a timely manner and in line with Trust policies and the Caldicott principles. To be pro-active in the management of the car parks. Directing staff as required to undertake tasks and resolve issues and to assist in the management and upkeep of the equipment on site. Plan your own work and that of the team to ensure adequate incident response and service provision. Ensure that all risk assessments and operating procedures relating to the Security team are complete and reviewed annually, making changes where appropriate in liaison with the Security Management team and other relevant groups (Fire, EPRR etc.). Ensure that all Security staff are utilising appropriate PPE at all times and that this is maintained in good order with any issues escalated quickly. To ensure any faults or damage to equipment or the Trust infrastructure is reported quickly and to keep a log tracking issues to ensure their completion. To support the Security Officers to complete accurate and timely logs as well as ensuring that all incidents are reported through the correct reporting service. To make dynamic risk assessments in order to appropriately prioritise staff response when multiple incidents are occurring simultaneously. To maintain high standards of presentation and hygiene throughout the performance of your duties in order to best represent the department and the Trust. To maintain good relationships with all users of the Trust including service users. Assist the management team in developing the service and be prepared to recommend and initiate changes. If necessary proposing changes to practices and implementing department policies. Communicate in a professional manner to other Trust managers. To attend meetings in a professional manner as required representing the Hotel Services for any issues that affect the Security Department
