Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership & Growth Lead the development and execution of the practices strategic plan in collaboration with the Partners. Monitor healthcare trends and the wider NHS landscape, identifying risks and opportunities. Lead practice-wide projects, change management and service developments. Represent the practice externally with the PCN, ICB, Federation, LMC, and other key stakeholders. Oversee premises development, expansion projects and strategic estates planning. Lead patient engagement through the Patient Participation Group and wider communication channels. 2. Financial & Business Management Provide full accountability for the practices financial performance. Oversee delivery of the GMS contract, QOF, Enhanced Services, and commissioning opportunities. Lead on annual contracting with NHS England and the ICB. Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, cashflow monitoring and partner drawings. Manage external relationships such as with accountants and banks. Oversee robust financial governance, VAT compliance and fraud prevention. 3. People & Organisational Leadership Provide visible leadership and foster a positive, high-performing culture across the organisation. Lead, develop, and retain the senior management team, providing oversight and direction for the wider workforce. Provide strategic oversight of workforce planning, recruitment, retention, appraisals and staff wellbeing, ensuring effective systems and processes are in place. Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout the organisation. Ensure effective communication, consultation, and engagement are embedded across all staff groups. 4. Information, Digital & Data Lead the practices digital transformation and ensure modern, efficient use of IT. Oversee compliance with Information Governance, data protection and cyber security requirements. Ensure systems are in place for accurate data reporting (e.g. CQRS, GPES) and for monitoring performance across all aspects of the business including financial management, productivity and staff performance. Oversee the DSP Toolkit and ensure resilience through comprehensive business continuity planning. Work with commissioners and national programmes to secure IT investment and development. 5. Governance, Compliance & Risk Ensure the practice meets all CQC, NHS and statutory compliance requirements. Oversee robust systems for clinical governance, quality assurance and risk management. Ensure health & safety, infection control, and safeguarding frameworks are in place, with clear delegation and assurance. Lead preparation for inspections, audits and external reviews. Ensure policies and procedures are consistently implemented and monitored across all sites. 6. Quality Improvement & Patient Care Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely and with a focus on excellent patient experience. Work with clinicians and managers to improve outcomes, reduce variation and implement best practice. Lead practice participation in national and local initiatives to enhance patient care.
