Summary

1.Clinical Care & Operational Leadership Provide senior medical assessment, resuscitation, diagnosis, and management across all ED areas. Lead resuscitation and trauma teams during major incidents. Oversee patient flow, ensuring timely decisionmaking, safe disposition, and throughput; support ambulance diversion protocols. 2. Governance, Audit & Quality Improvement Chair regular ED safety rounds, participate in incident reviews, and drive clinical audit and guideline updates. Lead improvement projects focused on performance targets (e.g., 4hour standard, admission avoidance). 3. Teaching & Workforce Development Act as Educational/Clinical Supervisor for Foundation and Specialty trainees, Lancaster Medical School students, and ACPs. Deliver formal and informal teaching, including simulation and Life Support courses; supervise junior staff on ED floor. 4. Strategic & Service Development Contribute to ED jobplanning and rota architecture, including outofhours service delivery. Support integrated care pathways: ED, SDEC, acute medicine, primary/community care (Better Care Together). Participate in Trust meetings, workforce planning, and EDspecific committees; engage with commissioners and system partners. 5. Research & Academic Activity Engage with portfolio research and quality improvement initiatives within Emergency Medicine, supported by UHMBTs academic strengths. Contribute to regional/national research networks and disseminate findings through presentations or publications. 6. Administration, Revalidation & Professional Development Attend clinical governance, operational, and education committees; undertake recruitment and appraisal duties.
