Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to play a critical role in the delivery of East Anglia’s flood incident management service, helping to build communities that are resilient to the impacts of flooding.

In East Anglia we want to create a diverse workplace where people are respected, valued and listened to. We’re all different, and by embracing Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) we can become an equal opportunity employer where jointly we all grow and learn together.

It is our ambition to champion diversity through building a workforce as diverse as the communities we serve.

Covering Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk, the Flood Resilience Team Member will support the delivery of activities across all aspects of the team’s work and have the following responsibilities:

• To co-ordinate internal and external enquiries that come into the team inbox, such as Freedom of Information requests and MP briefings, to ensure a timely and high-quality response.
• To support our Technical Specialists in the maintenance and improvement of data within the Warning System, using a variety of databases and GIS tools.
• To support our Incident Management leads in the updating of procedures, training materials and rosters, to ensure delivery of a competent and resilient flood incident management service.
• To support our Engagement Advisors with production of materials and resources to be used when engaging with our customers and partners, and support with community engagement events as necessary.

We offer a fantastic benefits package including an attractive salary, flexible working, 25 days annual leave, and an award-winning Pension Fund. For more information about working for us and our extensive range of employee benefits, please read the candidate pack.

Please note, this role does NOT qualify for Skilled Worker sponsorship. Contact UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) for professional expert advice.
The team
The Flood Resilience Team sits within the Flood and Coastal Risk Management Department in Local Operations and plays a vital role in the EA2030’s goal of building a nation resilient to climate change.

We ensure our staff, partners and communities are ready to respond effectively before, during and after a flood. We deliver the Flood Warning Service, engage with communities at risk from flooding and ensure our flood warning duty officers are trained and capable.
Experience/skills required
Through your experience you'll be able to demonstrate the following:

• Take a proactive approach to progressing your work, with the confidence to make decisions on your own initiative and as part of a team.
• Be able to work as part of a team, and individually, able to prioritise an interesting and varied workload.
• Knowledge of GIS tools and willingness to undertake further training when necessary.

It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had a knowledge of Flood & Coastal Risk Management and/or incident management.
