Summary

Industrial Refrigeration Engineer (Ammonia)
Location: Midlands
Salary: Up to £65,000 pa depending on experience
Contract: Permanent, Full-time

We’re working with a long-established, privately-owned refrigeration contractor who’ve built a reputation in industrial ammonia and commercial plant refrigeration across the UK. Unlike the standard service firms, they specialise in large-scale NH3 systems, complex plant, and mission-critical environments. The kind of projects that demand real expertise, not just routine maintenance.

They’re now looking for an experienced Refrigeration Engineer with strong ammonia handling knowledge to join their team.

What you’ll be doing

- Service, maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial refrigeration systems (NH3 and associated plant)
- Fault-finding and maintaining both new and existing installations to industry best practice
- Working both independently and as part of a close-knit team
- Supporting UK-wide clients with occasional travel and on-call duties

What we need from you

- Refrigerant handling certification (C&G 2079 or equivalent)
- Ammonia safe handling training
- At least 2 years’ hands-on experience in refrigeration engineering (industrial plant or large-scale commercial systems)
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK

Nice to have

- Knowledge of SCADA, RDM or electrical controls
- Commissioning and testing experience
- IPAF or CSCS card

Pay and Hours

- Monday to Friday – 40 hour + 10 hours travelling
- Up to £65,000 pa depending on experience

Why join?
This isn’t just another service contract role, it’s a chance to work with serious industrial kit and be part of a business that invests in engineers for the long term. Expect stability, progression, and a supportive environment where your skills actually matter.
