We are looking for an Independent Visitor Scheme Coordinator to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people.

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Location: Bridge House, Barrington Rd, Goring-by-Sea, Worthing BN12 4SE

This role requires the successful candidate to travel independently to various venues, council locations, and family homes across and outside the County, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available.

Regular attendance at your base location will also be necessary, and there will be opportunities for remote work. Final arrangements will be confirmed with the successful candidate.

This is essential for working closely with colleagues and families, offering them the vital face-to-face support they deserve.

About the Job

In this important role, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers who offer mentorship and companionship to children and young people including children looked after.

Our work in Independent Visitor Scheme (IVS) Team and any given day can often feel quite different from the next! There will be some key responsibilities likely to feature in this role, including:

  • Recruitment, assessment, and training of prospective Independent Visitors.
  • Oversee the matching process between volunteers and children and young people ensuring that each relationship is positive and beneficial.
  • Line manager, Supervision of and duty of care towards approximately 35 Independent Visitors.
  • Safeguarding children and young people through the processes, procedures and monitoring that are undertaken in all areas of the Scheme.
  • Deputising for the Senior IV Coordinator as required, including ensuring correct allocation of support within the team of volunteers as appropriate.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Significant experience in social work, youth work or demonstrable comparable experience.
  • Holds HCPC/Social Work Registration.
  • Experience supervising and monitoring the work of team members, including providing training, to meet service objectives and deliver a high-quality professional service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a diverse group of stakeholders including looked-after children and other professionals.
  • Strong problem-solving and risk management skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and effectively resolve issues both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrable evidence of applying knowledge and providing guidance in specific specialist areas, such as safeguarding, matching, and risk assessment.
