Summary

CPI has an exciting opportunity for an investor relationships manager to join the investor engagement and ventures arm of its established and growing enterprises team; where their missions are to:

• Forge strong relationships with the private investment community to enable impactful investment in high-growth companies working with CPI.
• Generate investment income from equity positions in CPI customers with high-growth potential.
• Develop non-core business opportunities to exploit CPI’s IP, assets, and know-how.
Reporting to the Head of Investor Partnerships, the successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with private investors, with the purpose of generating commercial project leads for the group; sourcing and identifying investment opportunities for CPI Enterprises and qualifying relevant and interesting deal flows for private investors.

The role holder will be exposed to a variety of innovative deep tech companies within the wider CPI network and will be expected to provide fundraising support to some of these companies as required. You may also be required to engage with potential customers and investors in order to exploit non-core business opportunities (e.g. exploitation of Group generated IP).

The Role

• Promote CPI’s capabilities to the private investment community
• Deliver targeted pitches and build relationships with investors to generate commercial leads
• Stay informed on investment trends and identify key investor relationships

• Support fundraising for innovative deep tech companies within CPI’s network
• Develop and execute account management plans aligned with CPI Enterprises strategy
• Use CRM systems to track metrics and support reporting
• Liaise with internal teams to identify and transfer opportunities across the business

The Person

It is essential you are qualified to Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific / Engineering or Business Related (such as Marketing, Economics) discipline, plus relevant industrial experience and have;

• A proven track record of working within a multi-disciplinary environment dealing with multiple technologies, capabilities and applications in a diverse set of markets
• A demonstratable track record of working with collaborative teams and leaders in organisations
• Relevant industry experience in a business development role within a technology/IP-based business environment
• Relevant knowledge/experience of the innovation eco-system and investors in early-stage companies
It would be great if you also have:

• Relevant experience of operating within an innovation, research and development environment
• Knowledge of Miller Heiman and/or other sales models/processes suitable for use in a complex sales environment
