The Role

As Deputy Civic and Elections Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering democratic services across Bolton. You’ll support the Civic and Elections Manager in overseeing all aspects of electoral registration and the smooth running of elections, including staff recruitment, training, and performance monitoring. You’ll also act as Deputy Returning Officer, ensuring legal compliance and operational excellence. From managing electoral software to coordinating voter ID processes and budget planning, this is a dynamic and rewarding role at the heart of local democracy.



About You

You’ll bring a strong background in electoral administration, with at least five years’ experience and a relevant qualification such as the Certificate in Electoral Administration or a degree. You’ll be confident working in a political environment, impartial and responsive to sensitive issues. With excellent communication and organisational skills, you’ll be adept at managing teams, delivering training, and meeting tight deadlines. A full driving licence and flexible approach to working hours are essential, as is your ability to adapt quickly to legislative changes and embrace digital innovation.
