Summary

The Growth Company’s (GC) Green Economy team are seeking a Low Carbon Sector Advisor to support businesses in West Yorkshire operating in the green tech and services sector. This role is central to our dedicated West Yorkshire programme, helping drive growth through tailored business diagnostics using our bespoke Green Growth tool. The advisor will deliver a comprehensive support package, including one-to-one guidance, peer group sessions, training workshops, and networking events, all facilitated by our expert in-house team.

Please note that this role is a fixed term contract until 31 March 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

Stay abreast of Green Tech trends to shape relevant support services and develop tools that enhance business productivity and resilience.
Handle inquiries, assess growth potential, conduct detailed diagnostics, and develop strategic action plans based on business intelligence.
Manage service delivery, monitor progress, and collect impact data in line with funder requirements and project goals.
Maintain accurate records of client interactions and referrals using CRM systems, ensuring timely updates and administrative precision.
Run sector-specific events and cultivate a high-level network of contacts to drive referrals and expand business reach.
Work with the relevant businesses closely to monitor any outputs including new jobs created/safeguarded, any GVA increase, and other service-specific outputs and outcomes that result from activities undertaken.
Undertake detailed diagnostics on a business or a detailed diagnostic on a particular functional or business area using various tools and methods to capture baseline data from clients and as identify needs, which should be addressed by developing growth action plans. This will involve the analysis and interpretation of business and market data/intelligence to provide recommendations to senior management teams, boards, and shareholders.
Undertake detailed discussions with client around complex business issues to understand their business challenges, making sound recommendations for appropriate actions that will lead to growth and managing the project/intervention to a successful conclusion.
Experience:

Degree-level qualification in business or equivalent professional experience,
Proven success managing complex business challenges during growth phases, with a strong grasp of commercial strategy.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within professional teams, delivering high-quality business assessments and development support.
Deep understanding of the Low Carbon and Environmental Goods & Services (LCEGS) sector, including growth drivers and operational challenges.
Skilled in project management methodologies and experienced in budget and contract oversight, especially within Green Tech services.
Strong technical expertise across key areas of the Green Tech and Services sector, supporting innovation and sustainability.
Knowledge of national and regional organisations driving economic growth, with experience navigating their support frameworks.
Committed to customer-focused engagement, fostering long-term relationships and encouraging business commitment to development goals.

Proven success navigating complex business challenges during growth phases, with strategic oversight and operational acumen.
Demonstrates strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration within professional environments.
Skilled in delivering high-quality business assessments, strategic advice, and tailored development solutions.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for identifying opportunities and fostering innovation.
