Role Overview:

A practice in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their supportive and well-resourced team. This is an excellent opportunity for a surgically-inclined clinician eager to refine their surgical skills in a newly refurbished environment. The role also offers strong progression, with the potential for experienced candidates to step into a Lead Veterinary Surgeon position in 2026.

You’ll benefit from a diverse caseload, encompassing both medical and surgical work, providing an engaging and developmental environment. The team is currently led by a dedicated Vet with a strong focus on dentistry and orthopaedics. Support is readily available from an experienced Head RVN and Practice Manager, fostering a collaborative and well-structured workplace.

Facilities & Equipment

The practice is well equipped with:

• Digital x-ray and dental x-ray
• In-house blood analysers
• Ultrasound services
• Access to advanced diagnostic equipment through a local 24-hour hospital, including multiparameter monitoring, CT scanner, endoscope, and laparoscopic kit

The practice has also been working hard toward achieving ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic registration, further demonstrating their commitment to providing the highest standards of care.

What you will be doing

• Delivering high quality clinical care in consultations and procedures, ensuring patients receive the best treatment.
• Communicating clearly with clients, preparing accurate treatment and care plans, including cost estimates.
• Maintaining regulatory, operational, and practice standards, including compliance and professional excellence.
• Mentoring and developing the veterinary team; supporting nurse consults, schedule-3 procedures, and contributing to efficiency and practice performance.
• Collaborating with the wider network: sharing best practice, participating in clinical handovers, and being part of a practice aligned with larger diagnostic/24-hour facilities.

About you:

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
• Proven experience delivering excellent patient and client care.
• Demonstrated capability in clinical leadership and in supporting/mentoring others.
• Comfortable with both medical and surgical work; experience in Schedule 3 procedures and nurse consults is advantageous.
