JOB TITLE: Revenue and Benefits Officer

Pay rate: £20.84 per hour PAYE
Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 6 months, Flexible working times between 7am and 6pm.
Working Arrangement: Can be 100 % remote working or can work from Bristol city office if choose to.

The role:

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Revenue and Benefits Officer with previous experience in the collection or recovery of revenue (public or private sector).

You will have previous experience of internal systems are NEC Revs and Bens and Info@Work.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer council tax and business rates, ensuring accurate and prompt billing, collection, and recovery of accounts
Obtain and assess information to determine local taxation liability in accordance with legislation. This includes determination and allowance of discounts, reliefs, and exemptions
Accurately update and maintain the revenues databases to ensure prompt and accurate billing, collection, and recovery of accounts
Respond appropriately to enquiries received from citizens, businesses and agents and action amendments to accounts
Agree repayment plans and determine appropriate recovery action that takes account of the person’s circumstances whilst maximising collection.



What the client is looking for:

A thorough knowledge of local taxation law or experience which demonstrates the ability to absorb and understand complex legislation
Experience of Internal systems such as NEC Revs and Bens and Info@Work
Experience in the collection or recovery of revenue (public or private sector).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or equivalent including the following: Outlook, Word, Excel, Web Browser, and have a willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.
