Summary

The Freshwater Advanced Husbandry Operator is responsible for the production of high quality Atlantic salmon fry, parr & smolts.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Carry out all husbandry tasks as instructed by the Smolt Unit Management and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and Company Standing Orders, including:
Daily:
• Feeding (meeting feed targets, appetite checks).
• Stock health (mortality removal, visual inspection).
• Environmental (monitor, record & adjustment).
Weekly:
• Feed (stock inventory, storage).
• Mortality (post-mortem analysis).
Variable:
• Stock moves (On & off-site, thinning).
• Stock assessment (weight, quality, seawater tolerance tests).
• Stock health (medicinal treatments, bath, in-feed).

2. Take responsibility for the set-up & execution of stock handling tasks (grading, vaccination), including supervision & training of any junior staff involved in those tasks

3. Participation in Alarm & Weekend Duty Rota, providing 24hr site security.

4. Maintain a high standard of hygiene, cleanliness and security throughout the Site.

5. Ensure that chemicals are handled in accordance with veterinary or manufacturers’ instructions and that appropriate PPE is worn.

6. Ensure machinery and tools are used safely and in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions, and maintained in good working order.).

7. Assist in reviews (SOPs, RAs)

8. Assist in proposing upgrades / improvements.

9. Carry out additional work at any time, as reasonably required by the line Manager.

10. Work at other Landcatch Natural Selection sites, under the supervision of other site managers, as reasonably required by the Company.
