Who we need

We are looking for someone to undertake a dedicated safeguarding role dealing with safeguarding referrals and associated case load work. They must:

  • Make decisions in accordance with legislation and guidance to safeguard students and staff, liaising with external agencies as necessary.
  • Develop and lead the running of the cross-College Safeguarding Network, to share best practice and continually improve the College’s approach to safeguarding.
  • To attend, or co-ordinate attendance at, a range of external meetings - including child protection conferences, core groups, child in need meetings, ensuring adherence to the guidelines and requirements for attending such meetings.
  • Support Looked After Students and attend PEP and LAC reviews.

What you’ll bring

The ideal candidate must be committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of our students and have good knowledge around supporting Looked After Students.

  • Experience of carrying out a substantial safeguarding role to include dealing with a range of issues such as abuse, neglect, radicalisation, CSE.
  • Highly developed knowledge of current safeguarding legislation, statutory and other related guidance.
  • Proven track record or working with complex issues of a difficult and sensitive nature.
  • Experience of developing and delivering enrichment, wellbeing or student voice services.
  • Excellent communication, negotiating, mediating and interpersonal skills, in particular, an ability to build relationships with young people, parents/carers, colleagues and professionals.
