If you are looking for your next move, why don’t you consider Renfrewshire Council’s Property Services team? We are looking for a customer focused, innovative and flexible individual that can help support the Council’s Capital and Revenue building programmes.

You will assist in the day-to-day management of property maintenance and general provision of Building Surveying Services. As an ambassador for the Council, you will undertake planned and reactive property maintenance on a varied portfolio of Council Assets including managing all aspects of building repairs, preparing estimates and commissioning contractors. You will also assist in providing a full range of professional services including condition survey reports, defect analysis surveys, feasibility studies, dilapidations, schedules of condition, statutory consents, fire insurance valuations, preparation of CAD drawings and ensuring compliance with current legislation, contract conditions and council standing orders.

You must have a BSc. In building surveying aswell as demonstrate relevant professional experience in a range of professional services including the preparation of tender and contract documentation; contract administration practice, SBCC/JCT contractual arrangements; and demonstrate success on a range of construction projects in a Building Surveying environment and on building projects.

Experience of managing projects from inception to completion, including initial client meetings, surveys, feasibility options/designs, advancing to full design, compiling and issuing tender packages, evaluating returns, taking works to site with a contractor and carrying out full contract administration duties to contractor on site, handling snagging inspections, and defect liability periods is essential.

Experience managing valuations and processing of payments to contractors on projects, managing variations to works on site and financial reporting of their effect to client, experience in a diverse range of professional services, including the various types of survey report, measured surveys, schedules of condition, defect analysis, dilapidations and experience in small/medium sized design works and the ability to site survey and compile all relevant drawings and details to satisfy Scottish Planning and Building Standards, including applying for and managing the planning and/or building warrant process is also essential.

You must have an understanding of current issues in local government, the general principles of property management and commercial awareness is required together with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team; deliver quality projects on time and within budget and be innovative in your approach.

You must also be CAD and IT Literate and have effective verbal and written communication skills.

A current Driving Licence is essential.
