Summary
JOB PURPOSE
To provide safe, high quality education and care for children attending the nursery and to fulfil all legal and statutory requirements. To maintain good relationships and communications with parents, carers, the committee and all staff and to implement Hook Village Nursery policies and procedures as advised by Hook Village Nursery Committee, normally via its Chairperson.
The role of the Nursery Manager is to ensure all children attending Hook Village Nursery receive high quality care, are kept safe and are provided with planned and stimulating play experiences which meet their individual needs and support all aspects of the Early Years curriculum. Other key responsibilities include:
JOB RESPONSIBILITES
1. To plan and deliver effective management of the Nursery, in conjunction with the Committee.
2. To ensure the Nursery complies with all relevant legislation, plus local authority and OFSTED requirements.
3. To ensure that staff are aware and adhere to Nursery policies and objectives.
4. To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional social and intellectual care for all children attending the Nursery.
5. To ensure that long-term, medium term and sessional curriculum plans are completed, which ensure that each child is working towards desirable learning outcomes.
6. To ensure that first and foremost, safeguarding children and staff is out utmost priority.
7. To supervise and support the daily programme of nursery activities and events, undertaken by members of staff.
8. To ensure that all staff comply with and support implemented systems of observation and record keeping so that children’s attainment and progress is effectively and regularly assessed, if required
9. To work with the implemented keyworker system and support all staff to ensure they also do so.
10. To properly organise and maintain Nursery records as required by governance and Nursery policies.
11. To liaise closely with all parents/carers informing them about the nursery encouraging parents’ involvement.
12. To develop good people relationships with staff, parents and carers.
13. To assist the Committee with any marketing and PR activities and initiatives to promote the nursery to maximise on intake numbers and maintain credible class sizes.
14. To liaise with the Nursery Committee, (usually the Chairperson), social services and other professionals as necessary to ensure all legal and statutory requirements are implemented; to provide reports, as required.
15. To assist towards OFSTED inspections and PLA re-accreditations.
16. To attend or manage in-service training and meetings, as required.
17. Any other tasks as designated by the Committee.
