Summary

By joining the University of Lancashire, you’ll become part of a thriving community of talent that’s united by a shared vision – to transform the lives of our students and create prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Every colleague has a vital role to play in helping us achieve this vision.

About the role:

We are looking for a dedicated BDSi Course Lead to join our dynamic teaching team in Dentistry. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future of dental professionals through hands-on teaching, mentorship, and academic support across our BDS International Course. This innovative programme, fully accredited by the General Dental council, provides training for overseas dentists, allowing them to qualify with a UK BDS and join the dental register. With 100% graduation rates since its launch in 2022, this role is key to ensuring the ongoing success and future growth of this programme.

You will lead on the provision of professional leadership and management of the BDSi course but will also be expected to liaise with the leads of the other professionally regulated courses in order to deliver an integrated approach to dental teaching. The role will involve delivering engaging lectures and practical sessions and supporting students in developing essential technical, clinical and theoretical skills

About you:

To be successful in this role you will need to have substantial academic operational management experience within higher education in a relevant area and have a strong academic track record in Dentistry. Excellent proven leadership skills and good motivational skills, with a strong supportive team-building focus are required for this role.

The successful candidate must have a higher degree or doctorate in an appropriate discipline and a full registration with the General Dental Council, including specialist registration.

Additional information:

You will be primarily based at our Preston campus, but should be willing to travel for University-related business. Placement locations for the international cohort are currently in Preston and Falmouth, and the postholder will be expected to travel to placement locations to support teaching on occasion.

For informal enquiries, please email Dr Claudia Cunningham, Head of Dentistry.

Remuneration as a Clinical Consultant will be subject to gaining honorary consultant status and holding current specialist registration with the General Dental Council. All other candidates will be appointed at the Clinical Senior Lecturer grade.

What we can offer you:

Our people are our most important asset. We’ll encourage you to make the most of your talents and continually develop your skills and knowledge. As well as realising your career ambitions, you’ll be making a positive difference to other people’s lives. We also offer a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits – from an attractive annual leave entitlement to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform.
