Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Welding Engineer to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.

What you'll be doing

The Welding Engineer is responsible for;

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining the project Welding procedure library.
  • Review the project scope of work and identify any shortfalls within the company welding procedures.
  • Review the clients’ standards and specification to ensure compliance.
  • Writing and overseeing the development of welding procedures. The qualification
    of welders and producing welder certificates.
  • Liaising with the Client and notified bodies for the witness of WPQ and welding qualification tests.
  • Review for compliance subcontractor welding procedures
  • Support the quality function

Who we're looking for

The successful candidate will have the following personal qualities and experience:

  • Welding Engineer reporting to the Quality Manager
  • Promote a Right First time Culture
  • Ensure the quality standards of the business and the client are consistently met and compliant with the project Specifications
  • Good understanding of ASME standards and other applicable codes EN 15614-1,
    ASME IX, ISO 9606-1, PED/PESR
  • Encourage continuous improvement across the Project
  • Promotion and implementation of the Project Quality Management System
  • Interact with project construction team and subcontractors
  • Conversant with construction specifications
  • Fluent with material certification review
  • Participate with Audit activities both at suppliers works and on-site
  • Timely, effective and concise reporting
  • Working in a Construction as part of the QA function
  • Qualifications MSc Welding Engineering with preferably the following qualifications.
  • CSWIP qualified Welding Inspector 3.1 or 3.2
  • PCN II
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Understanding and familiarity of working within a team culture
  • Experience of working within a highly regulated industry
  • Experienced with major Project delivery
  • Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person for the applicable role.
