ABOUT THE ROLE:
You will support the teaching team to deliver dynamic learning opportunities that meet the needs of the students. You will support tutors in our construction practical workshops with learners of varying abilities. To contribute effectively to the preparation and management of practical workshop sessions in line with health and safety requirements. Undertake stock monitoring, placing orders and tracking stock in line with budgetary targets to assist the college in its aim to deliver an exceptional student experience.
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:
The College operates across three main campuses in Stevenage and Hitchin, employing over 650 staff. With a turnover of £30m, the college provides learning opportunities to over 10,000 students each year from study programmes for 16-18 year olds and apprenticeships through to adult provision locally, regionally and nationally. We were judged Good by Ofsted at our last inspection in December 2023, with outstanding features.MAIN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparation of workshops and equipment for lecturer/student use.
Demonstration and support for tutor delivery
Stock management and inventory
Maintenance of workshops/equipment, including maintaining stock and identifying suppliers required for new purchasing, and to diagnose and repair faulty equipment as appropriate.
To liaise with other technicians/staff as required and to work as a team to support all other departmental technicians at the site
To undertake general administrative and purchasing duties within the department, including the maintenance of inventories.
To set up/pre-test apparatus/equipment/assessments for lecturers and be familiar with the appropriate safety procedures and regulations.
Ability to handle caustic, corrosive and toxic substances and be familiar with the appropriate safety procedures.
Responsibility for the secure storage and disposal of equipment/timber/tools.
