Summary
Fetal Medicine - It is expected that the successful candidate will have approximately 2-3 fetal medicine sessions per week (168 sessions/year) depending on the candidate and service needs. This is not an exact number and will require discussion. There will be an opportunity to develop dependant on the interests and experience of the successful candidate, examples could include toles within multiple pregnancy, echocardiography and fetoscopy/laser service. Maternal Medicine ANC - The successful candidate will have 1 maternal medicine clinic/week (42/year). This is flexible and will reflect the on-going needs of the directorate and interests of the successful candidate. Delivery Suite - This post will have approximately 1 day every 5 weeks of direct clinical care programmed activities on delivery suite. This would usually be on a fixed weekday. This equates to circa 11-12 days (08:30 - 21:30) per annum. The twilight rota runs on a 2:2:3 format, and the Consultant must be resident on delivery suite from 20:30 - 00:00 hours and resident on call in purpose built on call facilities from 00:00 - 08:30 hours. They must attend for clinical situations as mandated in the RCOG 'Roles and Responsibilities of the Consultant providing acute care in obstetrics and gynaecology' document (2021). There will be no daytime clinical activity scheduled during this period and appropriate and generous compensatory rest will be provided. Daytime weekend work consists of a long day 08:30 - 21:00 covering acute obstetrics and a short day 09:00 - 12:00 covering antenatal and postnatal ward round on a 1 in 25 rota. Bank Holiday work is timetabled within the programmed activity on 08:30 - 20:30 hours on a 1 in 25 rota.
