We currently have a turnover of over £50 million making us a major employer in the region with approximately 1,000 staff.At Gower College Swansea we are passionate about investing in our staff and looking after their wellbeing to ensure they feel supported in work and also at home.The role: To provide a high-quality customer focussed Finance service across the College, supporting managers and staff to contribute to the achievement of the College’s Strategic and Operational objectives and the implementation of the College’s Financial Strategy.37 hours per weekPermanent£58,544 per annumHill House Campus, SA2 0FDKey Responsibilities:Daily management of the College finance functions, including line management of finance department staff.Responsibility for the maintenance and control of the finance system.Produce College monthly management accounts with full supporting analyses on a timely basis.Full preparation of the annual financial statements of the College together with the supporting notes in preparation for the external audit and submission to WG.Manage payroll function to ensure payment of monthly payroll.Encourage innovation within the finance function by supporting the identification and practical implementation of ideas, whilst eliminating unnecessary bureaucracy.About you:Educated to degree level or equivalentProfessional accountancy qualification (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA etc)Experience supervising / line managing a teamFully conversant and up to date with all aspects of Accounting Standards, Payroll legislation, VAT legislation and Finance related best practiceExperienced in using and administrating all aspects of payroll software systemsBenefits for you:37 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, and the college is closed for two weeks over the Christmas periodA Local Government Pension Scheme with an average employer contribution of 21% (2024)Access to staff fitness trainer/nutritionist/exercise classes2 staff well-being daysDiscounted study opportunities on College programmesStaff support groups: menopause, LGBTQ+, and time for talkingView more benefits here: https://www.gcs.ac.uk/recruitment/staff-benefits-wellbeingNeed help with your application?
